Laura Hall and Kelly Macleod have been friends for a long time, and have always shared a love of music by folks like Emmylou Harris, Patti Griffin and the Dixie Chicks. But
they started making music together after Kelly starred in SLICE OF PIE,
a movie written by Laura's husband, Rick Hall. Their collaboration on the
film led the singer/songwriters to form The Sweet Potatoes, and write and produce their self titled cd.
Laura Hall is probably best known as the improvisational pianist on television’s WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY. She also has toured the country doing live performances with DREW CAREY AND THE IMPROV ALLSTARS.
Laura has written and recorded two cds of faith based songs, A WOMAN OF FAITH and ALL IN GOD’S GOOD TIME. Laura also wrote the music for the TELL ME A STORY series of storytelling cds, and has two albums of original music for kids, I SEE A TIGER and COME JOIN THE PARADE.
Laura has written music for several indie films, including SLICE OF PIE. She also scored an award winning documentary, SWIMMING IN AUSCHWITZ, and romantic comedies, ANATOMY OF A BREAKUP and LOOK AT ME.
Kelly Macleod was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana and has spent the last 20 years in L.A. After moving to the west coast, she recorded two albums with Warner Brothers, which were produced by Eddie Van Halen. She was the lead singer for the band PRIVATE LIFE, which opened for Van Halen’s OU812 Tour, as well as the Eddie Money Tour. PRIVATE LIFE also spent several months headlining in Japan.
Two songs written by Kelly can be heard in the movies WAYNE’S WORLD and GREMLINS 2. Kelly made her acting debut in SLICE OF PIE.
